Her background in dance pedagogy, psychology, and philosophy imbues a holistic essence into spearheading the community's endeavors.Yerba Buena’s mission goes beyond mere movement, fusing the elegance of dance with profound personal growth. As a nurturing sanctuary, we unite individuals from diverse walks of life, fostering connections that fortify communities. Through our teachings, we illuminate the path to self-discovery, empowering each participant to embrace their inner artist and flourish. By democratizing professional dance education, we shatter exclusivity barriers, making the world of dance an inclusive realm for all. Yerba Buena Art Community isn't just a place to learn dance - it's a transformative journey towards enriched well-being and the cultivation of values that invigorate societies.

Hi! I'm
Sarah Balzat
Teaching Artist & Artistic Director YBAC
I made first contact with the arts through music. As I grew up in a family full of musicians and began performing on the stage at a very early age of 6, art was around me my entire childhood. In particular, music has always been an important part of my life. At the age of 14, I started to study afro-cuban movement culture. I was immediately touched by the power and intense expression of the culture of dance, which is unbroken until now. Teaching became my greatest passion from the beginning. Being part of transforming peoples' understanding of their bodies and emotional states is the greatest honor of my life. I decided to dedicate my life to the craft.
A Bachelor´s degree in classical and contemporary dance and a Master's degree in choreography and dance education helps me to build a bridge between the arts and education and to find the best method for every student. Currently, I am enriching my knowledge through my BA studies in Psychology and Philosophy at Humboldt University Berlin.
