CURRICULUM
Explore the carefully craftes curriculum of our Teachers Program:
The Yerba Buena Method has been created after a solid 25 years period of research around the basics of Salsa & Mambo. The system is built on the idea that Salsa & Mambo dancing is a unique movement culture that can enrich everyone with the exploration of a deep connection to their own bodies. It was created out of a need to express oneself freely as an individual and in connection to others. The Yerba Buena Method focuses on the individual dancer, without limiting access to only selected body types. It focuses on the dancers' center and strength, as well as on the tools needed to create an honest connection by dancing with a partner. The Yerba Buena Method distinguishes improvisation as the dominant stone partner and self connection and prioritizes the idea of dominating improvisation over quoting patterns. This allows anyone to dance freely but with respect to each other, sharing the same space and time. All these systems form a coherent unit, designed for Salsa & Mambo creative development, study, research & teaching. Open to everyone!
Transform your teaching approach with our Dance Essentials module, a comprehensive guide to fundamental techniques that form the core of any dance discipline. From body mechanics to spatial awareness, this module equips you with the essential tools to cultivate well-rounded and technically proficient dancers. In our fast-envolving dance industry, those essentials are the backbone of a qualified dance educator.
Delve into the art and science of teaching dance with our Theoretical Pedagogy Classes. Explore cutting-edge methodologies, instructional strategies, and educational psychology tailored specifically for dance educators. Elevate your teaching philosophy and methodology, ensuring a holistic and impactful learning experience for your students.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM
YOUR PROCESS IS OUR PASSION
LIVE MEETINGS EVERY WEEK
We cover practical and theoretical topics.
There will be two time slots available to choose from, one in the morning (10-13) & another one in the evening (19-22) you choose the one that fits you best
Our live sessions are all on ZOOM and can (and will) happen from anywhere in the world. You can attend them live and/or replay them whenever it suits you best. They cover a wide range of dynamics--methodology, practical classes, storytelling, inquiry, deep analytic work, practical dance training, and skills sharing. This is a gloves off approach to mentorship and teaching in which we lay it all on the line, giving you access to the kind of transformation that you need and want to master your craft.
ACCESS TO ON-DEMAND
Improve without borders
Next to the class Replays which will be available for all students, I want you to have access to on-demand videos as well. They will help summarize what we talked about and help you to review keypoints. This immerses you into the programs and workshops that I've given over the time of the course. It increases the likelihood that you'll experience deep learning and integrate what you have learned. As you keep on exposing yourself to these ideas, they sink in and make a long lasting impact on your teaching and your own learning.
UNLIMITED SUPPORT
Integrating it all
Change doesn't happen by getting good at "weekly classes." Showing up for a session every week or every other week simply conditions us to put on a performance for that time and place. By being in direct personal contact throughout your week using WhatsApp. Like this, I'm able to be in the trenches with you, and you are able to make changes during real life situations and get guidance when you need it or just share the experience with me when you get excited about new achievements.
WEEKLY CHALLENGES
Play & Explore
You receive weekly assignments. These are often in the form of inquiry, asking that you consider new ways of thinking and to take on a different kind of experience in your own learning, and you're teaching. The expectation is that you are spending time each week keeping these things top of mind. Homework is mandatory!
THURSDAY MORNING CLASS
You can participate in our Thursday Morning class which is held on Thursday mornings at 9am online.
This is a body awareness class in which we work on posture, alignment, balance, center activation and more. It brings you into the right mindset for the class after and helps you to start your day right.

WHO AM I, TO TEACH YOU HOW TO TEACH?!
Hi! I'm
Sarah K. Balzat
Art | Teaching | Philosophy | Psychology
Dance has touched my life with its artistic power and intense healing potential. A Bachelor's degree in classical and contemporary dance and a Master's degree from Palucca School Dresden in choreography and dance education helps me to build a bridge between the arts and education. I dedicate my life to the study and analysis of different dance techniques. While my professional education was focused on Ballet, Contemporary and Modern forms of expression, Afro-Cuban Movement culture has been my focus since 1999.
During my almost 25 years of teaching I had the chance to collect the knowledge of many bodies and have accumulated a variety of solutions for different body types of all ages and levels. As a dancer, I've had the honor of working next to many inspiring artists during my career, such as Karel Flores, Franklin Diaz and performing internationally with Eddie Torres, the Mambo King, between 2016 and 2019.
Through my studies in Educational Science, Psychology and Philosophy at Humboldt University Berlin, I had the chance to explore the depth of the triangle between education, psychology and philosophy which finds its place in educating Dance Teachers all over the world and helping them to become equipped with all the tools that make them live their full potential as leaders in the industry.
Being part of transforming peoples' understanding of their bodies is the greatest honor of my life. Every student's unique journey is the focus of my work.
